Get a bike!

Our bike matching/sale night is on the first Wednesday of every month 6-8pm at our workshop 46 Russell Tce in Newtown

The dates for the rest of 2025 are 3rd of September, 1st of October, 5th of November and 3rd of December.

We’ll have a mixed selection of second hand bikes fixed by our awesome volunteers available on these nights.

Tell to us what your budget is when you arrive, or tell us if you’d like a free bike. If you have an idea about what you want to use the bike for, your biking experience or style of bike you want, these will all help us match a bike to you. You can also try riding the different styles of bikes we have to see what is the best fit for you. We rely on sales of bikes from those who can afford to buy them in order to get bikes to those who need them. We’ll match bikes to people based on size and requirement at our discretion.

It’s entirely ‘pay-what-you-can’ system - all koha we receive will go into bike parts, tools, helmets, locks, lights and everything else we need to fix bikes and get more people riding in Wellington. Bikes will remain free of charge for those who cannot afford to buy them and will always come with a helmet, a lock and lights too, if needed.

If you have any questions, email kiaora@rebicycle.nz or pop by for a visit.

We prioritise referrals from social support organisations for free bikes.

If you are supporting someone who needs a free bike please email kiaora@rebicycle.nz. Include their height, style of bike the person would like or what they’d like to use the bike for and any other particular requirements and we’ll do our best to find a bike that matches them.

You can also download our poster on ‘how to buy a second-hand bike’ or visit other community bike hubs around the region.
