Mechanics Course
Our Mechanics courses are designed for the complete beginner, so no prior experience of tools or bikes are necessary! Ideally you'll work on your own bike, but we have a fleet of bikes for you to work with if need be.
The course will take you through some basic maintenance and how to identify issues with your bike before going on to changing tyres and puncture repair. From there you'll learn how to change your chain, align your gears and brakes and replace consumable parts. You will go over how to perform an annual service on your bike and - depending on time and class requirements - will cover some further topics such as brake bleeding, hub servicing or wheel truing.
If you've ever wanted to learn how to service your own bike, or are keen to learn to become a community mechanic and help fix up bikes, this is the course for you! Our courses are designed for the rainbow community but all are welcome to attend and learn.
Cost: This course is fully funded by WCC and by previous participants, so there is no cost in order to attend. If you are able to donate koha towards future courses we'd appreciate it, and suggest a koha of $150 for unwaged and $300 for waged participants, but this will be discussed during the course.
